Down the Line — Tabletop Tennis Simulator
23 April 2026

Any Match. Any Era. Any Surface.
Federer vs Borg. Serena vs Graf. A fictional World Tennis League season with 64 players you built yourself.
Down the Line handles all of it with the same engine — a d20 roll, three player stats, and a gap rule that produces realistic match outcomes in seconds.
No board. No app. One PDF, a pair of d20 dice, and a pencil.
How It Works
Each player has three stats: Rating (R), Composure (C), and a Surface Bonus for Hard, Clay, and Grass.
For each game, both players roll a d20 and add their Rating. Apply the surface bonus. The gap between scores determines the outcome — close gaps produce tight games, big gaps produce dominance. That's it.
A full best-of-three match takes about 10 minutes. A five-set Grand Slam final, played properly, takes about 15. Fast enough to run a full draw in one sitting.

- Advanced optional rules — Form, Fatigue, Momentum, Style Matchups, Focus Limit
- Quick Results System — simulate a full match with one roll for background draws

The Ratings Decide the Draw
A Clay specialist with a +3 surface bonus is a different animal at Roland Garros than the same player on grass. A Composure 3 player gets rattled. A Composure 8 player doesn't.
The ratings create a natural narrative — upsets are possible, dominance is real, and surface matchups matter in exactly the way you'd expect.
