Under Par — Tabletop Golf Tournament Simulator

Roll Dice. Play Any Course. Crown a Champion.

Under Par is a tabletop golf tournament simulator built for one or more players. Each golfer has five rated attributes. Each round uses a different primary stat — determined by the course you're playing. Roll 3d6, apply your modifier, look up your score. Four rounds later, someone wins the tournament.

A full tournament takes around 30 minutes. A single golfer tracking one player takes less than ten.

How It Works

Every golfer has five stats rated 1–5:

  • DRV — Driving. Distance, par 5 scoring, aggressive lines.
  • APP — Approach. Iron play, greens in regulation.
  • SHT — Short Game. Chips, sand saves, recovery shots.
  • PUT — Putting. Holing putts, avoiding 3-putts.
  • CLT — Clutch. Pressure performance on the Sunday back nine.

Each stat carries a modifier: stat minus 3. A stat 5 player adds +2. A stat 1 player takes −2. The difference between an elite iron player and a weak one is four shots across a round — which is about right.

No Two Tournaments Are the Same

This is what makes Under Par different from a fixed set of rules.

Before every tournament, you roll twice. The first roll sets the Course Character — which stat each round favours. A Classic Tour layout rewards Driving on Thursday, Approach on Friday, Putting on Saturday. A Links course might flip the order, putting Short Game first and making Saturday brutal. A Bomber's Track ignores the short game entirely and hands the early rounds to the big hitters.

The second roll sets the Conditions for the week. Standard conditions bring Wind on Saturday and Pressure on Sunday. Brutal conditions bring wind across all three rounds and tighten the Pressure threshold. Perfect conditions give everyone a small scoring bonus and let the field go low.

Same golfers, same dice, completely different tournament.

The Drama Is Built In

The core scoring loop is clean. But Under Par has teeth.

Roll a total of 18 or more and you trigger the Charge Table. Roll d100. The course is singing. The scores available are very, very good.

Roll 3 or less and you're on the Capitulation Table. The course has got you. Roll d100 and find out how bad it gets. That kind of round happens in real golf. It happens here too.

The Short Game Check lets you gamble once per round. Roll d20 and add your SHT modifier. 14 or higher, your score improves. 6 or lower, it gets worse. The risk is yours to take.

The Pressure Check fires on Sunday for anyone within three shots of the lead. Roll d20 and add your CLT modifier. 12 or higher, you hold your nerve. 11 or lower, your score worsens by 2. A CLT stat of 1 is a serious liability on the final day.

The Cut

After Round 2, any player at +3 or worse is eliminated. The leaderboard tightens. The real tournament begins.
